I started riding to work this week, it’s only three miles each way but riding is actually quicker, cheaper and I arrive at work ALERT and raring to go.

I’ve been using a bicycle as my main mode of transport for many years. We’re a one car family so I need to ride to work and back each day no matter what the weather conditions.

I’ve cycled across Australia five time, cycled in Canada and in India. I even cycled in Miami a couple of weeks ago. (It was only in a K-Mart but at least I can now say I’ve cycled in the US. I wrote about it on my blog.)

I actually ride while listening to music. I have my iPod Mini at a volume where I can hear my music well enough without it blocking traffic noise. I know it doesn’t work for some people but I wouldn’t be without my music.

I’ve grabbed rides home a couple times this week because I’m not feeling 100%, and the thought of pulling hills to make it home wasn’t very appealing. I admire people who do this day in and day out. It’s much tougher than I thought it would be, but I plan to get back in the full swing starting next week.
